The legend of Torres Bermejas

Founded in 1960, Torres Bermejas is the most important unique and important tablao flamenco in the world. Torres Bermejas I known for its breath-taking hall, that reproduces the interior of the Torres Bermejas of the Alhambra de Granada. Moreover, we cannot dismiss its artistic history, being Torres Bermejas the tablao where some the world-famous flamenco artists started their careers. For instance, Camaron performed here for 12 years, and Torres Bermejas was the place where he met the guitarist Paco de Lucia. Also, other famous debuts in Torres bermejas has been those of Manolo Caracol, on February 1st, 1962; and recently, the cantaor José Mercé. Other famous artists include El Güito, Mario Maya, la Chunga, La Paquera, El Camborio, Fosforito, Pansequito, el Niño Ricardo, Enrique de Melchor, Paco Cepero, Chato de la Isla and most recently the Young and promising guitarist Juan Habichuela Nieto.

Torres Bermejas is located on the historic centre of Madrid, in Gran Via, next to Callao square. This restaurant is the same show hall that was occupied by the first tablao flamenco in Madrid, La Taberna Gitana, founded in 1949.
